From Elon Musk to Azealia Banks: Celebrities support Donald Trump in US presidential election

The 60th presidential election is approaching, and it could be a watershed moment in American politics. While many believe that Democratic candidate Kamala Harris (who served as Vice President to current President Joe Biden) has a clear shot at victory, Republican candidate Donald Trump (the 45th President of the United States) also seems to have a clear shot at victory, in his fourth presidential campaign.

From Elon Musk to Brittany Mahomes, Donald Trump’s most high-profile celebrity endorsers

Both have been grabbing headlines as we approach the big day on November 5, but Taylor Swift may have given Kamala the upper hand by officially endorsing her after the presidential debate. But when it comes to endorsements from prominent public figures, Trump isn’t far behind. Let’s take a look at some of the most notable names in this regard.

Elon Musk

Just like any public figure making comments even slightly against Trump will be picked up in the news, you can bet that Elon Musk has opened up to X with a response that is sure to make headlines, but mostly for the wrong reasons. While Elon’s unabashed support for Trump has certainly stood the test of time, the latest connection in that regard is his reaction to Taylor’s support for Kamala. Elon was quick to mockingly promise to “give Taylor a baby” and protect her cats, using his X nickname. The general consensus on the response was that it was pretty rude and unnecessary, but that’s okay.

Brittany Mahomes

Is Brittany Mahomes a secret Trump supporter? While the American football player has not publicly made any such statements, the Internet seems to have already answered in the affirmative. The reason? Recently, it was reported that Brittany liked an Instagram post of Trump in August that outlined the Republican platform for the 2024 election. Although she un-liked it after the farce was exposed, TMZ also reported that she liked the comment on her own Instagram post that read “Trump-Vance 2024.”

Instead of revealing who she’ll be voting for this year, she issued a statement about the backlash, blaming all the hate on “deep-rooted issues.” However, things took a turn for the worse when Trump personally called her out, not once, but twice. The first time was in a post on his parallel X account, Truth Social. The second time was as a reaction to Tyler’s endorsement of Kamala. “Well, if you want to know the truth, I actually prefer Mrs. Mahomes,” he said.

Azealia Banks

Rapper and singer Azealia Banks has found herself in hot water after publicly expressing her support for Donald Trump back in the winter of 2023. But this isn’t the first time. Back in 2016, Azealia supported Trump, but she retracted her statement shortly before the election season after some of his comments about women became public. Still, when he won, she posted on Facebook about how “excited” she was.

Looking back at this year’s election, Azealia’s support probably stems from her stance on gun laws. In early July this year, she also attended Trump’s rally in Florida, and the rally video went viral on the Internet.

Lil Wayne

In December 2019, rapper Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to gun and drug possession, facing up to 10 years in prison. In January 2021, on his last night as the 45th President of the United States, Trump pardoned the rapper, one of 143 pardons. For Lil Wayne, the reason for the pardon was his “trustworthiness, kindness, and generosity,” as well as the benefits of his charitable work with hospitals and food banks. The rapper expressed his gratitude in the form of an X post, which read in part, “I want to thank President Trump for recognizing that I can give more to my family, my art, and my community.” Since then, the two have discussed criminal justice reform on many occasions.

Jon Voight

Oscar-winning actor (and Angelina Jolie’s father) Jon Voight is pretty much the poster child for Trump’s A-list supporters, and this isn’t a recent development. In fact, the actor has moved on from the “Vietnam War-era hysteria” (his words, not ours) and has become an outspoken supporter of a number of Republican politicians, Trump being the most notable of these. Jon is 100 percent in tune with the MAGA (Make America Great Again) cause and believes wholeheartedly that Trump is the man best equipped to achieve it. He even called Trump “the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln” in 2019. If you’re wondering how far back this political camaraderie goes, in 2017 he said, “If God could reverse all the negative lies that have been thrown at Mr. Trump, his only wish is to make America great again.” Come winter, there’s no guessing who he’ll be voting for.

Who do you think will win the US presidential election?
